Michael Dempsey, MFT Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology in 1989, and received his Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2011. Michael is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern with over five years of clinical experience, and is supervised by Dr. Rodric B. Rhodes, Ph.D, LCSW, an Associate at Dr. Duggan and Associates.

Michael's post-graduate clinical experience focuses on treating adults, couples, families, adolescents and children, providing counseling for anxiety, depression, and relational/ family issues, adjustment disorders, as well as ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, grief, trauma, hoarding, dissociative disorders, addictive behaviors, self esteem, adjustment to chronic pain, OCD, kleptomania, and others.

Michael has effectively worked with patients from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, age, lifestyle, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Michael's work as a therapist is complimented by 20+ years of professional experience in the legal field where he provided individualized recommendations to, and worked closely with federal judges, consulted with prosecutors, defense attorneys and law enforcement officials. This professional experience informs Michael's clinical practice as a whole, and is put to particularly effective therapeutic use in an area of specialty: counseling for law enforcement officers and lawyers, and counseling for people with legal issues, such as shoplifting, DUI, theft, drugs, and other issues.

Michael is trained in multiple treatment approaches which he thoughtfully integrates to meet each patient's individualized needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy, as indicated. With children, Michael integrates non-directive play therapy and behavioral therapy, among others. Michael compassionately treats his patients with attention to the unique clinical challenges each one faces, and helps them to move forward in a highly supportive atmosphere.
